The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government (Angela Rayner) has cancelled or paused Local Government Reorganisation . . . but not in Surrey.

I raised a question about this at the Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee today. You can find the video on my YouTube Channel (link below).

I proposed a Motion at today’s full Council meeting that the Leader of the Council do write on this issue to the Minister. The Motion was defeated by 38 votes to 17 (with 3 absentions). The Liberal Democrats were concerned that writing to the Minister might affect future Government funding.

I also spoke against a Green Party motion that the Council do declare a climate emergency in East Surrey.
